Canadian Agricultural Societies

Canadian Agricultural Societies are local organizations which for about 150 years have been the backbone of local agriculture. Each fall, after the harvest, local societies would hold a 'Fall Fair', combining entertainment with recognition of acheivements among local farmers. In this environment, farmers would mingle with their peers, many of whom they had not seen since the last fair, and the exchange of ideas and information helped to improve Canadian Agriculture over the years.

Today we encourage the consumer to support these fairs, and to learn something about the farms and the farmers who provide the food they eat. Contact your local Agricultural Society, volunteer to help, and support their initiatives.
