Food labeling has been a hot topic for years. It is a balance of what the consumer wants, what the government thinks is necessary, and what the producer is willing to pay for.

Decisions made with urban support often have adverse effects in rural communities. Most of these instances are fueled by a paniced public who are led by lobbyists trying to spin the situation, politicians who are starved for an issue, and a media actively yearning controversy which will improve their ratings. Things are hard enough for our farmers today. Let's at least get the facts straight before we penalize them.
