I have started this thread to try and see how many people really want to eat local and why. Myself it all boils down to the taste and knowing where it is from.
I have my own Market stand at the Community Harvest Market and the one thing that keeps being repeated to me is that it is knowing where it is from that people like. I do think that people have to become more aware of what is available when and plan there meal options that way
for future generations! i want to eat local. also, for health and to support my neighbors. health is because i'm assuming there is less risk of food poisoning when fewer people have handled it and fresh food is supposed to be better than food picked early and refrigerated, right?
i'd rather grow my own but sadly land is an issue in my community cause it was stolen by the government and now there is a shortage. four homes on half an acre!!
