Accounts

A user account on BuyFromTheFarm is necessary to post or to edit any of our content. You must have an account, and be logged in, to post comments to any page, to start or participate in any discussions in our Forum, and to list your farm, event, association or business.

Each account requires a unique email address.Only one account may be registered under each email address, and we both allow, and recommend, that you use your email address to log in to your account rather than your user name. User names may contain spaces, a mixture of upper and lower case, numbers etc. and are more subject to typing errors that are email addresses. We also recommend that you use a proper name, rather than an aliase or nickname, as your user name, so 'My Business Name' is more appropriate then 'foxybob'. You may change your user name at any time.

Passwords should be strong and not easily guessed. If you ever saw our server logs of people trying to use dictionary words to break into other peoples account, you would never use a real word as a password! We try to detect all such attacks, and to ban access to the computers involved, and we have never knowingly been successfully hacked. As far as possible, try to include both upper and lower case letters, as well as numbers and punctuation in your password or passphrase. At least 8 characters should be used, and, remember, that your password is case-sensitive, so be careful when you type it.
