How To Create or Edit an Agricultural Society/Fair

Agricultural Societies put on country fairs, and the two are linked. This content type serves both as a contact page for the Agricultural Society and as an event listing for the societies upcoming fair.

You must be logged in as a registered user to add your Fair/Agricultural Society. To create your account, or to log in if you already have an account, go to User LoginThis link will open in a new window so you do not lose your place here.

The fair content type entry screen shows the following fields:

  1. Start Date and End Date

The behaviour of these fields depends on the 'All Day' checkbox.

If the checkbox is checked, these fields will only accept dates. If the checkbox is unchecked, then start and end times are required. We recommend this box be checked for multi-day fairs.

Enter the scheduling information for your fair using these fields. Your fair will appear in the calendar based on what you enter here.

  2. Logo
A logo may be uploaded to the fair listing. Simply click on the Browse button, find and select the picture file on your own computer, and your local filename will appear in the input box. Then click on the Upload button, and the page will process your file. Be aware that the logo will not display on your page until you click on the Submit button after you have made all of your changes.
  3. Title (required)
Enter the name of your Fair. (see General Guidelines)
  4. Fair Info

This field set has several items specific to Fairs:

    Directions
Give your visitors directions to your fair, and let them know where they can park. Describe prominent landmarks they will recognize along their way.
    Contact Name
Name of Agricultural Society's Manager, or other public contact.
    Contact Email
The email address of the contact person, or general email address for the society. This address is not published on the site. It is used by our servers to direct any inquiries about the market which we receive using the contact form. No contact form is provided if you do not enter an email address. This address may be different from the one used to create your account.
    Web Site
If you have a web site, enter the url here, and an active link to the site will be provided from your page. If you have a web site, we ask that you also provide a link back to BuyFromTheFarm.ca from your site.
  5. Description
As stated in the General Guidelines, this is where you tell the user all about your fair. Let people know about what makes your fair special, and what they can expect to find when they come. Take your time and put some thought into how you want to present your event here. What you say here may make the difference in someones decision to attend your fair.
  6. Location and Macro Fields
See the General Guidelines for these fields.
  7. Event Type
Choose Fair. This is hidden in the Macro Fields fieldset, and should default to the correct value.
