Two types of partner listings are active on this site:

Producers

Producers primarily grow food for human consumption. This category includes all types of farms, and all types of foods, be they crops or animal. It also includes businesses which produce food products like maple syrup, preserves etc. We have included nurseries in this category for convenience.

Producers are searchable by product. Vegetable Growers includes farms which produce vegetables, grains, herbs and spices. Fruit Growers includes orchards, vinyards, berry farms and pumpkin patches. Under Prepared Foods you will find beekeepers, maple bushes, meat and dairy products. Look under Other Goods for crafts, firewood, hay and other non-food products. If you are interested in farm tours, hay rides, stable or other farm related services, look under Farm Services.

Vendors

Vendors are characterized by the fact that they buy local produce for resale. The vendors listed with BuyFromTheFarm.ca are restaurants, caterers and grocers committed to buying and selling products which are grown locally. These vendors have shown initiative in offering a variety of local flavours, as the economy and the consumer both demand an alternative to goods imported and shipped over thousands of kilometers. Rural industries like bakeries, cheese factories, butchers, local dairies etc are included here.
